Keira Knightley has revealed that she would like to star on the London stage.

Speaking to Tatler, the 23-year-old stated that she would prefer to appear in a production that does not carry a high profile.

She said: “I can’t quite handle the idea of ‘Screen Actress in Big West End Hit’ and all that. I would prefer to do something smaller, maybe at the Bush Hall, which is one of my favourite theatres.”

Knightley added that the thought of performing on stage makes her nervous.

“The idea of doing theatre scares me in an exciting way but doing any part always terrifies me,” she said. “It boils down to a fear of standing there in a wig and a dress and suddenly thinking, ‘I feel like an idiot’.”
